The first and the foremost thing to note would be that there are various forms of kalikA mantras, and many more specific to bhagavatI dakShiNA kAlI. Guru is the right person who can decide, based on sampradAya and the qualification of the aspirant as to which mantra is given. I can only state here what I follow which also seems to be what is popularly followed, except may be in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. While there are other forms of the same vidyA with the order of the three main bIjas altered, no other mantra is called vidyArAjnI.

There is a reason behind that. All the other mahAvidyAs ten, twelve or sixteen arise from these two primary mahAvidyA-s.

It is in this order that the three bIjas are revealed by Lord bhairava in the karpUra stotrarAja. When hrillekha and kurcha are interchanged, it represents a different srotas of the vidyA and does not satisfy the criteria for being a mahAvidyA. The four arms of Devi Kali carries a sword, a trishul tridenta severed head, and a bowl skull-cup or kapala. The bowl is used to collect the blood of the severed head.

This ten armed form is known as Mahakali, the bigger aspect of Kali. She is depicted with a blue skin in her Mahakali form. Mahakali has ten faces, ten feet, and three eyes for each head. Smashan Kali is the most dangerous and powerful form of Devi Kali. Smashan Kali is the chief goddess of Tantric texts.

It is said that at the time of samundra manthan when amrit nectar came out along with poison, Lord Shiva drank the poison to save the world from being destroyed. But, Lord Shiva was very much in pain due to the poison.
